Elliott Buckner Q'ing

“Barbecue brings people together. We need a lot more of that these days.”

Check out the inspiring story of our very own Elliott Buckner, a plaintiff’s personal injury attorney at Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci (CGBB), featured in the 2023 Virginia Super Lawyers magazine. Elliott’s passion for barbecue led him and his brother to start Buckner Brothers BBQ. Despite the pandemic, they continue to support the community through their annual fundraising barbecue event for Community Brain Injury Services (CBIS). Learn how CGBB and Elliott contribute to CBIS and bring people together through the joy of barbecue.

Community Brain Injury Services

On May 6th, our team and their families had the honor of attending the 13th annual Lifting the Silence Gala benefiting Community Brain Injury Services! It was such a wonderful evening dedicated to raising funds for programs and services for brain injury survivors. We would also like to congratulate Anne McDonnell for being awarded the 2023 Champions Award! Anne’s decades of service to the brain injury community is nothing short of incredible and we congratulate her on this well-deserved honor!

This year, CGBB partners Elliott Buckner and Stephanie Grana have been elected as President and Secretary, respectively, of the Community Brain Injury Services Board of Directors.

Communities in Schools - Richmond

Communities In Schools of Richmond partners with Richmond Public Schools and Henrico County Public Schools to support area students with resources, programs and services that aim to help students be more successful in life. Dascher Pasco, one of our #CGBB Attorneys, has been spending time with her Richmond Public Middle School mentee working closely with them on relationship building and helping to achieve their personal goals to ultimately pave the way for success. We are so proud of Dascher’s selflessness and encourage those who are interested in volunteering to visit https://lnkd.in/gEYe3fU9 for more information.

Brain Injury Association of Virginia

BIAV is a statewide, primary source of information and personal support for individuals, families, and professionals whose lives have been impacted by brain injury. CGBB has been an active participant and sponsor of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia for years and is committed to fighting for brain injury clients. Attorney Irvin Cantor, founding partner of the Richmond, VA law firm of Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci, has been dedicated to the families of those who have suffered serious injuries or wrongful death since 1979. His work has resulted in more than 2,000 favorable verdicts and settlements for his clients, including more than 500 traumatic brain injury cases.

Traumatic brain injury cases comprise the largest portion of Irv’s practice. He has successfully handled brain injury cases for over 40 years. He wrote the chapter dealing with legal aspects of brain injury cases for the seminal medical textbook on the subject, Brain Injury Medicine. Irv is a past president of the Brain Injury Association of Virginia and was the 2010 recipient of the Weinstock Award from BIAV. Since 2022, Partner Joseph Cantor has been an active BIAV board member, and this year, our CGBB team will be the Title sponsor of the annual Charity Golf Classic.

CGBB & Richmond Animal Care and Control

On May 5th, Yam Chop spent the day with our CGBB team and stole all of our hearts! Through Richmond Animal Care and Control’s Casual Friday Foster program, businesses have the opportunity to foster a shelter dog or cat at their office and give these animals a much-needed break from the shelter. Yam Chop is a two-year-old sweetheart who had the absolute best time hanging out with our team for the day and proved that she would make the perfect addition to someone’s family. A few days after her return to RACC, Yam Chop was adopted and went home with her forever family!

If you are interested in the RACC Casual Friday program, email Robin.young@rva.gov to sign up to host a RACC dog or cat at your office.
