UVA Shooting Cases Resolved

The University of Virginia will pay $9 million to the three families of the men who died and the two students who were wounded in the tragic shooting on November 13, 2022. The Court affirmed the settlements of these cases on May 31, 2024.

Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci had the privilege of working with The Haggard Law Firm of Miami, Florida, and Blankingship & Keith of Fairfax, Virginia, to represent the family of D’Sean Perry, Mike Hollins, and Marlee Morgan in these cases.

Irv Cantor, Elliott Buckner, Joseph Cantor, and Jeff Stedman worked on these cases. Irv Cantor stated, “This tragedy took the lives of three incredible young men and seriously injured two remarkable students. The financial compensation can never replace the enormity of what was taken. The lawyers for the victims, who are working with UVA to strengthen the protections for the students from gun violence, sincerely hope that some meaningful improvements will be made for student safety.”

Elliott Buckner added, “We are hopeful UVA will release the independent investigation into the tragedy so that the family and the public will have some answers. It might also provide some insight into how to make our campuses safer.”
