Stephanie Grana Named to 2026-27 Virginia 500 Power List

Virginia Business recognizes Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci partner among only 36 leaders in Law — marking her second appearance on the list

RICHMOND, Va., Sept. 3, 2026 — Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci is proud to announce that partner Stephanie E. Grana has been named to Virginia Business’ 2026-27 Virginia 500: The Power List, recognizing influential leaders across the Commonwealth. This marks the second time Grana has earned a spot on the list since it was first published in September 2020.

Published annually since 2020, The Power List features 500 of the “most powerful leaders across 20 major sectors, ranging from real estate and manufacturing to higher education and federal contracting.” Honorees are not nominated; Virginia Business editors select the list based on factors including career achievements, company revenue, the number of employees a leader oversees, the scope of their responsibilities, and their involvement and prominence within their industry and community.

Only 36 of the 500 honorees were selected in Law. The group consists largely of presidents and managing partners of major firms, a chief judge, current or immediate past Virginia State Bar presidents, and law school deans. Grana’s inclusion places her in a notably selective cohort.

Virginia Business highlighted Grana’s catastrophic injury and wrongful death practice and her firm’s significant verdicts and settlements. In one such matter, Grana and co-counsel represented ten women whose mammograms had been misread over a period of years, each of whom learned she had breast cancer only after it had advanced. Three of the ten died while their claims were pending. The claims were resolved together for $8,650,000 after the available limits of coverage were tendered, as reported by Virginia Lawyers Weekly..

“I am deeply honored to be included among so many respected leaders in Virginia’s legal community,” Grana said. “My work is grounded in serving people whose lives have been changed by catastrophic injury or loss and in strengthening our profession through leadership, mentorship, and service. I share this recognition with my clients, colleagues, and the entire team at Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci.”

In 2022, Grana became the first Hispanic/Latina president and the seventh woman to lead the Virginia State Bar. She is also a past president of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Metropolitan Richmond Women’s Bar Association, and the Lewis F. Powell Jr. American Inn of Court.

Her service extends into the broader community. Grana serves on the boards of Commonwealth Community Trust and Community Brain Injury Services and is a faculty member for the Virginia State Bar’s Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course.

Education and Achievements

Grana’s career is rooted in Richmond, Va. She built her practice there across the same years she raised three children, all of whom are now grown; one is a lawyer. She earned her J.D. from the University of Richmond in 1993, graduating cum laude, as a member of the Order of the Barristers, and as a Moot Court Competition finalist. She received her B.A. from the University of Richmond in 1990, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in just three years.

Grana is widely recognized by her peers for excellence in trial law. She has been selected to The Best Lawyers in America and named Richmond Lawyer of the Year on multiple occasions — for Personal Injury Litigation in 2020, Medical Malpractice Litigation in 2021, Product Liability Litigation in 2022 and 2023, and in 2026 for both Personal Injury Litigation and Product Liability Litigation. She has been listed by Best Lawyers in medical malpractice every year since 2009.

She has been selected to the Virginia Super Lawyers list every year since 2007, beginning as a Rising Star and earning Top 100 Virginia, Top 50 Women Virginia, and Top 50 Richmond selections. In 2026, she was named to the Top 5: Personal Injury Plaintiff Virginia Super Lawyers list, one of the narrowest peer-recognition lists in the state. Virginia Super Lawyers profiled her in a feature article, “The Attorney Who Doesn’t Sleep” (2024).

In 2025, Grana was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only honor. She is AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest available rating for legal ability and ethical standards.
