For more than 45 years, Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci has stood beside Virginia families during some of life’s most difficult moments. But our commitment to our community extends far beyond the courtroom.
We believe that building a stronger community starts long before someone ever needs a lawyer. That’s why our attorneys and staff proudly support local schools, youth programs, charitable organizations, and community initiatives that help create brighter futures for children and families across Central Virginia. Since our founding in 1979, giving back has been a core part of who we are.
Supporting Students Starts with Supporting Teachers
Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, and every teacher deserves the resources to help make that happen.
One of our proudest recent partnerships has been supporting the FOX Richmond Teacher Supply Drive benefiting Richmond Public Schools. Our team donated much-needed classroom supplies, helped raise awareness through television and community outreach, and joined local businesses and volunteers in ensuring teachers had the tools they needed before students returned to the classroom.
From crayons and folders to rulers and pens, these simple supplies make a meaningful difference for educators and students alike. We were honored to help support local classrooms and invest in the next generation of learners.
Helping Students Start the School Year Strong
We are also proud to support the Ultimate Backpack Drive, the largest school supply drive in Central Virginia. This annual initiative provides thousands of backpacks filled with essential school supplies to K-12 students across the region, helping ensure children begin the school year prepared and confident. For many families, the cost of school supplies can be a significant burden. By supporting the Ultimate Backpack Drive, we’re helping remove that barrier so students can focus on what matters most: learning, growing, and reaching their full potential. Every child deserves the opportunity to start the school year with the tools they need to succeed, and we’re honored to play a small part in making that possible.
Encouraging Youth Through Sports
Sports teach far more than athletic skills. They build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
Our firm’s relationship with the Richmond Tennis Association spans decades. Founding partner Irv Cantor first became involved with the organization in the 1970s, and today that commitment continues through sponsorships, volunteer leadership, and support for programs that make tennis accessible to players of all ages. Irv is now the President of the Board of Directors for the Richmond Tennis Association.
We are especially proud to support initiatives that introduce children to the game.
Rising Stars Tennis Academy
The Rising Stars Tennis Academy, a partnership between the Richmond Tennis Association and the City of Richmond, provides free tennis instruction to young people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. Beyond learning the sport, participants develop lifelong skills including confidence, sportsmanship, healthy habits, and perseverance.
Programs like these demonstrate how athletics can positively shape young lives, and we’re honored to help make those opportunities possible.
Tennis Under the Lights
As the title sponsor of Tennis Under the Lights, our firm helps bring families together for evenings of community tennis, free clinics, food, and friendly competition. Proceeds from the event directly support youth and adult tennis development throughout the Richmond area, helping ensure these programs continue to grow for years to come.
Giving Back Through Leadership
Community involvement isn’t something we do once a year. It’s woven into our firm’s culture.
Our attorneys serve on the boards of numerous nonprofit organizations, volunteer their time, and help lead initiatives that strengthen our community.
For example:
- Stephanie Grana has long supported youth-focused initiatives, including the Boys in Blue Program at J.L. Francis Elementary School, while also serving in leadership roles with Community Brain Injury Services and other nonprofit organizations.
- Elliott Buckner serves as President of Community Brain Injury Services and has helped raise significant funds through charitable events benefiting brain injury survivors and their families.
- Joseph Cantor serves on the Brain Injury Association of Virginia Board of Directors and continues the firm’s tradition of community leadership and service.
These leadership roles allow our attorneys to advocate for meaningful change beyond the legal system.
Investing in a Stronger Community
Our community partnerships extend well beyond schools and youth athletics.
Over the years, we’ve proudly supported organizations dedicated to brain injury awareness, animal welfare, public safety, higher education, and local nonprofits. Whether sponsoring charitable events, volunteering our time, or providing financial support, our goal remains the same: helping our community become stronger, healthier, and more connected.
Why Community Matters to Us
Every day, we represent individuals and families whose lives have been changed by serious injuries. We understand that strong communities don’t happen by accident. They are built through education, opportunity, volunteerism, and people who care enough to give back.
Supporting teachers, investing in youth programs, encouraging healthy activities, and serving local nonprofits are all ways we can help make a lasting difference.
At Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci, we’re proud to be more than personal injury attorneys. We’re neighbors, parents, coaches, volunteers, and community partners committed to helping Virginia families thrive, both inside and outside the courtroom.
