The Brain Injury Association of Virginia (BIAV) is the only statewide nonprofit organization exclusively devoted to brain injury; it is the primary source of information and personal support for individuals, families, and professionals whose lives have been impacted by brain injury. The Cantor Grana Buckner Bucci team has been an active supporter and consistent sponsor of BIAV for many years and is committed to fighting for brain injury survivors and their families. Attorney Irvin Cantor, founding partner of CGBB, has been dedicated to the families of those who have suffered serious injuries or wrongful death since 1979. His work has resulted in more than 2,000 favorable verdicts and settlements for his clients, including more than 500 traumatic brain injury cases.
Traumatic brain injury cases comprise the largest portion of Irv’s practice. He has successfully handled brain injury cases for over 40 years and has even written the chapter dealing with the legal aspects of brain injury cases for the seminal medical textbook on the subject: Brain Injury Medicine. Irv served as chairman of the national legal conference for the Brain Injury Association of America and is also a past president of BIAV. He was the 2010 recipient of the BIAV Weinstock Award, awarded to an individual who helps individuals and their families navigate life after a brain injury, and demonstrates a passion for service in the brain injury community.Â
We are so pleased to announce that Irv was awarded the BIAV Legacy Award on June 10, 2023. The newly named Anne McDonnell Legacy Award is given to an individual who has made significant, long-term contributions of lasting impact to the field of brain injury both professionally and through advocacy. Irv’s dedication and incredible passion for individuals impacted by brain injury have no doubt contributed to this much-deserved award. Congratulations, Irv, and thank you for all you have done for BIAV and the brain injury community.
