Former Henrico NICU Nurse Faces Additional Felony Charges for Infant Abuse
A Henrico County grand jury has returned six additional felony indictments against Erin Strotman, a former NICU nurse at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, who is accused of abusing premature infants under her care. The new charges include two counts of malicious wounding and four counts of child abuse, bringing the total number of alleged victims to three.
Previously, Strotman was charged with felony malicious wounding and child abuse in connection with a baby who suffered an unexplained fracture on November 10, 2024. The latest indictments expand on those allegations, with new offense dates of October 29, November 10, and November 13, 2024.
Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor has indicated that the prosecution intends to move the initial charges involving baby YH to circuit court. Taylor also stated that prosecutors are reviewing whether previous incidents from 2023 could lead to additional criminal charges. Strotman, who was previously jailed for a month before being released on bond, is scheduled to appear in court again on March 20, at which point prosecutors may challenge her bond status.
