This was a section 1983 civil rights action for the enforcement of first amendment rights by the former Leesburg Chief of Police, who contended he was terminated for reporting illegal acts conducted by the Town Manager and Council members. The case was tried by Mr. Ford, with co-counsel Elaine Bredehoft, in the federal district court in Alexandria for 4 days. The jury awarded a $3.1 million verdict.
